REGIONAL TRANSFORMATION

Soy4brands is focussing on REGIONAL transformation to facilitate uptake of physical Responsible Soy

Instead of the dispersed market approach which reduces the potential for physical uptake

There is not enough responsible soy available in the market to arrange physical flows at affordable prices, either by Mass Balance or Segregation. However, applying a regional focus to encouraging responsible soy production can considerably increase uptake on local levels. In some regions, more than 10% of production is already responsibly produced. This can be increased to 50% in three to five years through facilitating Term contracting on (RTRS) Credits for farmers in these regions. These enlarged regional ratios of responsible soy production will make its physical uptake feasible.

VISIBILITY & TRUST

Soy4brands will create long term VISIBILTY for farmers and re-gain TRUST

Instead of “spot” purchases or “non-formalized” commitments which undermine trust.

The actual market situation does not give producers long-term visibility. Even though many have invested a lot in good agricultural, environmental and social practices to comply with responsible production, the market uptake is lacking. If commitments are set, these are often short-term (“on the spot”) and not formalized. Farmers are therefore losing trust in the system. ACT Commodities will create a long-term perspective through Term contracts on regional Credit Trade in order to gain the market’s trust.

FACILITATE A PULL MARKET

FACILITATE the ability of Brand Owners and Retailers to join their efforts and create a pull market.

Instead of dispersed investments and absence of intermediation.

If Brand and Retail commitments and investments are coordinated, these can add up to a critical mass, which can effectively create leverage. But there is no form of intermediation for enabling this. ACT Commodities will actively approach Brand owners and Retailers to align individual company strategies within a common environment. This will produce an active follow-up to the Soy Score card as initiated by WWF.

MONITOR and COMMUNCATE impact measurements to support storytelling

Instead of a lack of measurements and market communication.

Brand Owners and Retailers are looking for appealing narratives to add value to their consumer perception. The current market situation does not have a leading monitoring platform for indicating the ROI (impact), nor one which highlights the commitments and actions of frontrunners.
